References to a Raspberry Pi 3 pop up at the FCC approval agency
There seems to be a new model in the Raspberry range of motherboards. References to a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B have been found at the FCC. One of the novelties seems to be built-in support for WiFi and Bluetooth.
A test report turned out to be on the site of the FCC, the American agency responsible for testing electronics. The British organization responsible for the Raspberry Pi did not want to comment on the find to The Register, so not all details are yet clear. It does seem that the makers will provide the Raspberry Pi 3 with support for WiFi and Bluetooth low power, something that is not yet available on previous models.
Because pictures of the motherboard have appeared, a lot about the hardware is already clear. For example, a Broadcom soc seems to be used again, as was already the case with the Raspberry Pi 2. Furthermore, an HDMI port, Ethernet port and the necessary USB ports are present, and there is a 40-pin I/O port.
Now that most of the details are out, it is likely that the Raspberry Pi 3 will be announced soon. At the end of last year, the organization behind the popular motherboards released the Raspberry Pi Zero, which costs only five dollars.
