Reddit has revamped the mobile app with some new features. For example, there is a chat function that allows users to chat among themselves and there is a new mode that allows better viewing of images.

Reddit is adding the chat feature as a beta feature, and for now, it’s only available for two people to keep in touch. This feature has been tested for several months. The mobile app will also have the option of live comments. The discussion platform will release the updated app on Google Play and the App Store on Monday.

Furthermore, the discussion platform’s mobile app gets a new mode to better display images, videos, and gifs on a mobile phone; this footage can now be viewed in landscape mode and older or new media can be swiped into view. Android users get the iOS-derived ‘speed read’ button, which quickly navigates between the top-rated comments.

Reddit has also added some new tools for moderators. They get a special mode that allows them to rate posts more easily, create notifications faster and ban users faster. They can also add new moderators from their smartphone with the updated app.

In August, the platform raised another 170 million from investors to improve the website. For example, the website must become more visually attractive and part of the code will be rewritten. Reddit is still in the process of transitioning to mobile use; the official mobile app was only launched in early 2016, after several other apps were already available.
