BBK-branded realme has confirmed that it will show a smartphone with a secondary camera with a ‘fisheye’ lens next week. The lens will have an angle of view of 150 degrees, where many smartphones now have an ultra-wide angle lens of between 110 and 125 degrees.

It’s about a 50-megapixel sensor behind that lens, says realme. At 150 degrees, it is the lens with the widest angle of view in a smartphone to date. Almost all phones have an ultra-wide-angle camera, but the angles of view range from about 110 to 125 degrees.

It concerns the GT 2 Pro smartphone, which the manufacturer will show for the first time next week. Realme is a sister brand of OPPO and OnePlus, among others. This is also apparent from the camera setup for the GT 2 Pro, which also has camera technology on board that was previously found on the OPPO Find X3 Pro.

The primary camera of the GT 2 Pro is the IMX766, the same 50-megapixel sensor found in the OPPO phone from nine months ago. The third camera is a microscope camera, realme says. The Find phone also has that, but it has a circular LED around the camera to provide small objects with enough light. It does not appear to be on the GT 2 Pro, although two LED flashes are visible.

The phone also has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 soc from Qualcomm and a 6.78 “OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. Realme will announce further details next week.
