‘Read later’ service Pocket is coming to Android Wear
Pocket has shown a version of its software that is suitable for Android Wear. It allows users to save articles to read later. Pocket is therefore one of the first services announced for the smartwatch operating system.
Pocket reports this on its website. According to the makers, it is still a prototype of a software development kit; developers can use it to integrate Pocket into their apps. This should make it possible to easily store articles or other content that are opened on the smartwatch. Pocket has posted pieces of source code on GitHub so developers can test the concept.
Pocket is one of the first to make software available for Android Wear, Google’s mobile operating system for wearables. The internet giant has already urged developers to make software suitable for Android Wear. The first smartwatches with Android Wear will only be released in a few months, so that by then the first apps that are suitable for the operating system will probably also appear.
According to the makers behind Pocket, the software for Android Wear will be improved in the near future. The progress depends, among other things, on the progress that Google makes with the release of the Android Wear software: currently it is only available as a developer preview.
