Razer wants to make Chroma RGB available for smart home lighting and comes with app

Razer unveiled plans to create a smarthome ecosystem at CES. The company is coming this year with a Razer Smart Home app for controlling lighting. Razer also invites smart lighting manufacturers to make their products compatible with Razer Chroma RGB software.

The company claims at CES that it wants to create a “universal app” for “controlling all connected devices” with its Razer Smart Home app. The company hopes that several smart lighting manufacturers will add support for Chroma RGB so that they can be controlled within a single app, regardless of manufacturer.

Razer shows a single screenshot of its app, which shows that lamps can be classified per room and per household. In the app, supported smart lighting could be set, switched on and off and adjusted. The screenshot also mentions ‘routines’, but Razer does not elaborate on that. More details about the app are not yet known.

Razer is also setting up a smart home program. With this, the company invites manufacturers to integrate their lighting with Razer Chroma RGB. According to Razer, several companies have pledged to participate in the program. The company mentions Yeelight, Nanoleaf, Monster, LIFX and Twinkly. Philips Hue support is not mentioned. The smart home program and the accompanying app will be released in the first half of this year. Razer says it expects to announce more partner companies soon.
