Razer Releases Two Basilisk Wireless Gaming Mice
Razer is releasing two wireless gaming mice in the Basilisk series. They look almost identical in shape, but the Basilisk Ultimate is a lot more expensive and offers things like RGB lighting and quite a few customizable parts.
The Razer Basilisk Utimate has an optical Focus+ sensor with an accuracy of 20,000dpi, and eleven programmable buttons. Furthermore, the RGB lighting of the fourteen different zones can be adjusted, just like the resistance of the scroll wheel. The distance from the ground can also be set, which revolves around the point at which the sensor no longer transmits input to the computer, so that the cursor does not immediately shoot in all directions when lifting the mouse, for example.
This Ultimate mouse comes with a 2.4GHz dongle that plugs into either your computer or a magnetic charging dock. This charging station, on which the mouse can be placed at an angle, can be purchased separately for 60 euros, but is also supplied in combination with the Basilisk Ultimate mouse for 190 euros. The mouse, weighing 107 grams, lasts for 100 hours on a battery charge, but can also be connected wired with the included micro USB cable. The mouse has support for WiFi and Bluetooth low energy, and costs 170 euros separately.
Razer also comes with the Basilisk X Hyperspeed. It has a sensor with a sensitivity of 16,000 dpi, six programmable buttons, and according to the manufacturer, with the included AA battery, it lasts for 285 hours at 2.4 GHz, or 450 hours if bluetooth low energy is used. The supplied dongle can be stored in the mouse, just like with the Ultimate variant, but a difference between the two is that the X Hyperspeed cannot be connected wired. This mouse weighs 83g without the battery and costs 70 euros.
