Razer puts bigger screen in thin Blade Stealth laptop
Razer has announced a new version of its Blade Stealth laptop. The new model has a 13.3″ screen with a resolution of 3200×1800 pixels. The housing is no bigger than that of the existing versions, which have 12.5″ screens.
Razer announced the slim laptop at the E3 gaming show. As in the existing Blade Stealth models with 12.5″ screen, the new 13.3″ version is 13.1mm thin. The width and depth of the laptop have not changed despite the larger screen; the new model therefore has thinner screen edges. The 13.3″ version is slightly heavier at 1.33kg than the 12.5″ versions, which weigh 1.29kg according to the specifications.
The 13.3″ panel is an IGZO model from Sharp and it is a touchscreen. According to the manufacturer, the screen can display one hundred percent of the sRGB color space. Razer supplies the laptop with a Core i7-7500U processor, an economical 15W dual-core with four threads, the clock speed is 2.7GHz with a turbo boost to up to 3.5GHz.
Storage is available in the form of PCI-e SSDs of 256GB, 512GB or 1TB. There is 16GB lpddr3 memory available in all versions. Razer is also offering buyers of the new model in the US and Canada a choice of gunmetal gray. In this variant, the Razer logo is in the same neutral color as the aluminum housing. This makes that version much less striking than the other Razer Blade Stealth laptops, which have a bright green logo.
In the US, the 13.3″ model with 256GB SSD costs $1400. The most expensive version with 1TB costs $2000. The laptops will initially hit the market in June in the US, Canada, UK, Germany and France: The updated Razer Blade Stealth models should go on sale worldwide in July, Euro suggested retail prices have not been disclosed.
