Razer Phone gets HDR and Dolby Digital 5.1 support in Netflix app
The Razor Phone will soon receive an update that will enable the smartphone to display Netflix videos in HDR. In addition to support for HDR10, the phone can also play Netflix content in the Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 format after the update.
Razer didn’t say whether the Razer Phone’s signature 120Hz refresh rate would also be useful when playing Netflix videos in HDR. All new copies of the device already have the necessary updated version of the Netflix app, but still need an ota update, which will be available later this month. In addition to the ota update, already released copies also receive the necessary update of the Netflix app. The Razer Phone is the first smartphone to combine this HDR and audio standard in Netflix.
The Razer Phone was introduced in November last year and has a 5.7″ LCD with a refresh rate of 120Hz and adaptive refresh technology. The device runs on stock Android and contains a Snapdragon 835-soc, combined with 8GB of ram. According to the manufacturer, the phone delivers relatively good sound quality through the stereo speakers on the front, which have a Dolby Atmos logo and a THX certificate.
