Razer Introduces Wireless Gaming Headset with Charging Dock for Consoles and PC
Razer has announced the Thresher Ultimate. This wireless gaming headset simulates 7.1 surround and should work from a distance of up to 12 meters via the lag-free charging station. There will be an Xbox One version and a PlayStation 4 version, but both will also work on PC.
The versions for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 are identical, except for the green and blue color accents. The Thresher Ultimate comes with a headphone stand that doubles as a charging station and connects directly to the Xbox One or PlayStation 4. The station can charge the headset in four hours.
Most previous Razer wireless headsets for the PC can only be charged via a USB cable plugged into the PC and came with a small wireless USB adapter. Due to the separate standard, the Thresher Ultimate will have a greater range, up to a distance of twelve meters. According to the manufacturer, Thresher Ultimate lasts for sixteen hours on a single battery charge. The standard establishes the wireless connection over a 2.4GHz signal.
The Thresher Ultimate has 50mm drivers and has buttons on the headset to adjust the volume and turn the microphone on or off. The headsets also work for the PC. The ear cups are covered with leather and memory foam. According to Razer, there are also earcups available with special cooling gel. The unidirectional microphone should provide better communication and better filter out ambient noise. The microphone can be completely folded. The headset weighs 408 grams. Tresher Ultimate will cost $250 and is expected to hit the market in July.
