Razer introduces mouse and keyboard with silent switches for work environment
Razer is releasing successors to the wireless mouse, keyboard and mouse pad that the company added to its Productivity Suite last year. According to the manufacturer, the mouse and keyboard have silent switches, which also contributes to their suitability for the workplace.
The new wireless keyboard is the Pro Type Ultra and the Pro Click Mini is the wireless mouse, which is complemented by the Pro Glide XXL mouse pad. According to Razer, these products have “silent mechanical switches,” which should help to provide a quieter work environment and less distraction for others in the immediate vicinity. The company does not say whether, and if so to what extent, the new products are quieter than their predecessors.
The Pro Type Ultra features yellow mechanical switches that are said to have a lifespan of 80 million keystrokes. According to Razer, it has an ergonomic design with a wrist rest and up to four devices can be connected via, for example, bluetooth or the wireless Hyperspeed technology. The battery life is 214 hours when the backlight for the keys is off and bluetooth is used; in the case of Hyperspeed, that’s 207 hours. This drops to 13 hours if either wireless connection method is used with the backlight on its brightest setting.
The Pro Click Mini has buttons with a lifespan of 15 million clicks, according to Razer. The sensor has a resolution of 12,000 dpi and five dpi settings can be stored in the mouse itself. The wireless mouse can be connected to up to four different devices simultaneously and there are seven individually programmable buttons. This mouse also has bluetooth and Hyperspeed; the battery life is respectively 725 hours against 465 hours. The Pro Click Mini weighs 88g with a single AA battery, or 111g with two AA batteries. The mouse measures 100.2×62.7×34.1mm.
Like their predecessors, all products are available in white and gray colours. The Pro Type Ultra costs 170 euros and will be released sometime in the current fourth quarter. The Pro Click Mini is now available and costs 90 euros and the Pro Glide XXL is already out and can be purchased for 35 euros.
