Ray-traced The Witcher 3 for PC and consoles will be released in the second half of 2021
The ‘next-gen upgrade’ for The Witcher 3 will be released in the second half of this year and is being made by Saber Interactive. The improved version will include support for ray tracing. This is a free update for those who already own the game.
Saber Interactive, the studio that created the Nintendo Switch port of The Witcher 3, is also responsible for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S versions of the game. CD Projekt RED has outsourced the making of the next-gen upgrade to that studio. Saber also previously made the 4k update for The Witcher on the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro.
CD Projekt RED will re-release the enhanced version of the game for PC, Xbox Series X and S, and PlayStation 5, due in the second half of this year. The developer mentioned that when announcing its restructuring.
Last year it was already known that an upgrade would come, but no release date was mentioned yet. The PR manager of the Polish studio emphasized on Twitter that the upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released later this year. An exact date is not yet known. The next-gen upgrade for Cyberpunk 2077 will also be released in the second half of this year.
