Raspberry Pi Model B+ price drops almost 30 percent
The Raspberry Pi Model B+ will get a price cut of $10, bringing the price down from $35 to $25. In the Benelux, the price will probably be below 25 euros. Until now, the price of the B+ was just as high as the new Raspberry Pi 2.
The Raspberry Pi Foundation announces its nearly 30 percent price cut on its blog. According to the organization, the lower price is possible due to ‘production optimisations’ that have been implemented. The suggested retail prices of the Raspberry Pi A+, Raspberry Pi B+, and Raspberry Pi 2 are now $20, $25, and $35, respectively.
The organization behind the mini computer announced its new Raspberry Pi 2 in February. This model has more memory and a more powerful quad-core than the B+. It was noticed at that announcement that the older B+ continued to be offered for the same price as the Pi 2.
The Raspberry Pi B+ has been available at some web shops for around 25 euros for a few weeks now. The official price cut may now open the way to even lower prices.
