Raspberry Pi competitor from Asus appears in web stores

A Raspberry Pi competitor from Asus has appeared in a British web store, among others, under the name ‘Tinker Board’. The board runs on a Rockchip RK3288 processor and has four USB 2.0 ports on board.

The processor has four Cortex A17 cores that run at a maximum of 1.8GHz. Furthermore, the device has 2GB lpddr3 memory, which is 1GB more than the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. Asus has not yet officially announced the device, but there are already several sites with information about the Tinker Board.

In terms of connectivity, the Tinker Board features a gigabit ethernet port and bluetooth 4.0 in addition to 802.11n Wi-Fi. In addition, a screen can be connected via an HDMI 2.0 port and the board can be equipped with storage memory with a micro-SD card. A 3.5mm jack is also available. The price of the Tinker Board is according to the listing 55 pounds, which comes down to about 64 euros. This makes it more expensive than the most recent Raspberry Pi, which costs about 40 euros.
