Apple has started supplying the AMD Radeon Pro 5600M video card in its MacBook Pro 16. The GPU has an additional cost of 1000 euros compared to a 5300M, or 875 euros compared to a 5500M. The gpu has hbm2 instead of gddr6 memory.

AMD’s Radeon Pro 5600M is a new video card that has never appeared in a laptop before. It is the first Navi GPU for laptops that is combined with hbm2. The other Navi video cards in MacBooks have gddr6 memory. Due to the 2048-bit memory interface, hbm2 has a much higher memory bandwidth of 394GB/s. The Radeon Pro 5500M and Pro 5300M reach 192GB/s. In addition to faster memory, the 5600M has more compute units, but the clock speed is lower, presumably to limit consumption.

The Radeon Pro 5600M can be selected since Monday when purchasing a MacBook Pro 16. Buyers pay a minimum of 3699 euros for a laptop with the new video card. The base model of the 16″ version of the MacBook Pro costs 2699 euros and the additional price for the new gpu is 1000 euros. 875 euros.
