Radeon CEO Raja Koduri definitively leaves AMD
Raja Koduri, who headed AMD’s Radeon Technologies Group, has left the company for good. Lisa Su, the CEO of AMD, will temporarily take over his duties until a successor is found.
AMD has confirmed Raja Koduri’s departure to Tom’s Hardware after Hexus.net published an internal memo announcing the chief executive that he is stepping down from his position. Koduri made the decision himself during his three-month sabbatical, which was announced in September. At the time, there were no indications that it was a permanent departure.
Koduri gives no direct reason for his departure. He has come to the conclusion after self-reflection and spending time with his family. In his letter he writes that he is convinced that RTG and AMD are on the right track. He also indicates that he fully believes in the GPU architectures Vega and Navi and that he is proud of what the company has achieved.
Raja Koduri spent the past four years at AMD, the last two of which as Senior Vice President and Chief Architect of the Radeon Technology Group. Between 2009 and 2013, Koduri worked at Apple on graphics chips, but between 2001 and 2009 he was already CTO at AMD’s graphics arm.
According to AMD, Koduri’s departure will not affect the plans or strategic direction of the Radeon division. There are no changes to the roadmap and AMD says it is on track for launches in 2018 and beyond.
