Rabobank will start phasing out Rabo Scanner this year
Rabobank has indicated that it will start phasing out its so-called Rabo Scanner later this year, with which customers must, among other things, approve transfers by scanning a color code. De Volksbank is also taking similar steps.
Rabobank confirms the decision to De Telegraaf. The phase-out will take place over a period of one year. Bart Leurs of Rabobank tells the newspaper that ‘the extra box for the app is no longer the best solution for an increasing number of customers’. Instead, there would be several other secure alternatives, such as a five-digit PIN, a fingerprint or facial recognition in combination with ‘all kinds of monitoring options’.
De Volksbank, which includes SNS, de Regiobank and ASN, also says it wants to say goodbye to its variant known as the Digipas this year. This will remain available for customers who do not have a mobile phone or who do not want to use the app. ABN Amro says that there are no ‘concrete phase-out plans’ for its e.dentifier yet. In 2014, Rabobank replaced its so-called Random Reader with the current scanner with camera.
