Rabobank will replace Rabo Wallet app with Google Pay

Rabobank’s Rabo Wallet app will disappear in the future. Instead, Android users can pay with Google Pay. Unlike Rabo Wallet, Google Pay also works in web shops and with smartwatches.

Google’s meta description of the Rabo Wallet site states that the bank will stop using the Rabo Wallet app. This app is only available for Android smartphones and allows customers to pay with their smartphone. The phone must support NFC for this. Since 2017, Rabobank customers have been able to pay with most Android smartphones.

According to Google’s description, Rabobank will support Google Pay instead of its own Wallet app. With Google Pay, customers can also pay with their phone in stores. But with the Google Pay app it is also possible to pay in web stores and apps, and with smartwatches.

The couch confirms to Android World to stop using the Rabo Wallet app, but can’t say when this will be yet. Rabobank has been supporting Apple Pay since the end of 2019. ABN Amro, bunq, N26 and Revolut have been supporting Google Pay for some time. ING does not yet support Google Pay, customers of this bank can pay with NFC just like with the Rabo Wallet app.
