Qualcomm Snapdragon 845-soc benchmark results come online
Various sites have presented benchmark results of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845-soc. Those benchmarks come from a chipmaker’s test device, which media was able to test at a Qualcomm event.
The improvement over the previous Snapdragon 835 differs per benchmark, according to results from Anandtech. The Adreno 630 GPU from the soc seems to perform about 30 percent better in the synthetic tests than the Adreno 530 from the Snapdragon 835. In addition, the new GPU can deliver more performance per watt, the site claims. The new Kryo processor cores also appear to provide an improvement. More general tests also show a performance improvement, claims Android Police.
Qualcomm has Samsung make the 845 on the second generation of the 10nm process. The four larger Kryo processor cores, based on Cortex A75 cores, can reach clock speeds of up to 2.8GHz, while the smaller ones can reach 1.8GHz. The eight processors share 2MB of L3 cache. Each core has its own L2 cache.
The test device has a Snapdragon 845, coupled with a 5.5″ screen and 6GB of lpddr4x memory, the fastest type of memory available for mobile devices to date. It is still unclear to what extent the performance improvements on the test device for an improvement in performance on final devices from manufacturers Although the test device has been a good indication in recent years, there may be differences in this.
