Qualcomm probably unveils high-end Snapdragon 8150-soc on December 4th
American chip designer Qualcomm has sent out invitations for an event in Hawaii. This shows that the company will hold a keynote on 4 December, in which new products will be presented. Probably the Snapdragon 8150-soc.
Among other things, the Chinese website PCPop shows images of the invitation for the annual Tech Summit of Qualcomm, which takes place on the Hawaiian island of Maui. At this multi-day event, a keynote will be held on December 5th. It is in line with expectations that the Snapdragon 8150 will be presented there. Recently there was a rumor thatthe new high-end soc of the chip designer would be presented on December 4; the event starts on this day, but the actual presentation is likely to follow a day later. Midrange socs such as the Snapdragon 7150 and 6150 will probably not be presented until next year.
The Snapdragon 8150 will be the successor of the Snapdragon 845, which is now in many high-end smartphones. It is still unknown what the specifications of the new soc are, but according to rumors, it is just like the Kirin 980 of Huawei andthe recently introduced Samsung Exynos 9820 for a design with three clusters. Probably the Snapdragon 8150 Qualcomms first soc made at 7nm, since Qualcomm indicated earlier that the coming high-end soc will become a 7nm chip. Huawei also has the Kirin 980 on the 7nm process, at TSMC; Samsung makes the Exynos 9820 on its own 8nm process .
