Qualcomm lays off 1,258 employees in California
Qualcomm will lay off 1,258 employees at two of its offices in California. This is evident from documents that the company submitted to the American state. This concerns approximately 2.5 percent of Qualcomm’s workforce.
American news medium CNBC noted Qualcomm’s documents. It shows that the chip designer is laying off ‘approximately’ 1,064 of its employees in San Diego, in addition to 194 employees in Santa Clara. The layoffs will take effect around December 13 at both locations. No entire departments will be closed.
QUalcomm refers to CNBC its previous quarterly figures. The company already said that it expected to make layoffs and reorganisations. “Given continued macroeconomic uncertainty and demand, we expect to take additional restructuring measures to continue investing in key growth and diversification opportunities,” the company said. Qualcomm says it expects those measures will “largely” consist of reducing its workforce.
