Qualcomm is releasing developer kit for Arm version Windows 10 this summer
Qualcomm, in collaboration with Microsoft, will release a kit this summer to help developers start testing software on Windows 10 for Arm. When the developer kit will be released and how much it should cost is not yet known.
A price has not yet been announced at the time of writing, nor the specific details about the working memory, storage or the Snapdragon soc that will be in the device. Still, the two companies argue that the developer kit will be more affordable and convenient for developers compared to the alternatives on the market now.
Qualcomm also announced the second generation of its Snapdragon 7c socs yesterday. The 7c Gen2 socs run at a slightly higher clock speed compared to the first generation, according to Anandtech, and should mainly end up in budget laptops.
Since December last year, Microsoft has started a public test in which the arm version of Windows 10 (preview build 21277) can emulate x64 programs. With the release of Windows 10 for Arm, only 32bit programs could run via emulation.
