Qualcomm CEO says Nothing Phone (2) will get last year’s soc
The Nothing Phone (2) will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 from last fall, instead of the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This was claimed by a top Qualcomm executive in a LinkedIn post. The post has now been edited.
Nothing Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1
Nothing itself only said that it was a Snapdragon 8 SoC, but Qualcomm CEO Alex Katouzian said on LinkedIn according to 91Mobiles that it was a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Meanwhile he edited the post and it says ‘Snapdragon 8’.
The brand can opt for last year’s SoC for the upcoming phone to reduce costs. The Phone (1) has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ and that is a SoC for midrange phones. The Nothing Phone (1) was released for 469 euros.
The Phone (2) should be released later this year and it will be the manufacturer’s second phone. Nothing will announce new earbuds later this month. Nothing has not yet said when exactly its next smartphone will be released.
