QuakeCon has been canceled due to the corona pandemic
Bethesda Softworks and id Software have canceled the QuakeCon event, which was supposed to take place in Dallas in August. They cite the current corona pandemic as the reason.
Bethesda Softworks and id Software indicate the ‘logistical challenges and uncertainties’ in the light of the corona pandemic. They say the health and safety of their employees, as well as the volunteers, vendors, sponsors and players will always be their top priority and that “in these times it would feel weird to talk about a meeting when a meeting is the last thing to do.” we have to do now’.
The companies call the cancellation a difficult decision, partly because this would be the 25th edition of QuakeCon. Bethesda Softworks and id Software say that while they don’t know the state of the August pandemic, it would be impossible to complete all the work and planning to make the event a success.
QuakeCon is an annual event co-hosted by ZeniMax Media, the parent company of publisher Bethesda Software. Normally, the event promotes games from id Software and other studios under ZeniMax, among others.
