Bethesda Softworks has announced that Quake Champions is available to play for free immediately. The game has been available in Early Access on Steam since last year, and the publisher had already announced that a free-to-play version would be coming.

The announcement came at the QuakeCon event, along with an official trailer for the game. Through the video, Bethesda wants to indicate that from now on everyone can play Quake Champions for free, and this is possible via Steam Early Access, and via the Bethesda website.

Quake Champions has been available as Early Access since last year, but to gain access to the game, the Champions Pack had to be purchased. Free access to the game had previously been given for a short time, and Bethesda had already planned to make the game free when the final version was released, but that was not the case yet. The Champions Pack, with which additional characters can be played, will continue to exist.
