Quake Champions gets Duel Mode, a Russian vlogger announces. In the new game mode, two players compete against each other. The two compete on one map, but each can choose three Champions to battle with.

During a visit from a team from the Russian YouTube channel Cc-combo Breaker! developer id Software gave the team an explanation of the new Duel Mode, through a demonstration match between two former Quake III: Arena top players; John “ZeRo4” Hill and Adam “SyncError” Pyle. In Duel Mode, both players choose a map on which the duel will be fought. They then play a ‘best of three rounds’. The players then each choose three Champions with which to enter the arena.

A player cannot include the same Champion in his team twice, but both players can choose the same Champions. A round lasts until one of the players with all three Champions is killed, or until the time limit has expired. In the latter case, the player with the most Champions remaining wins. If both players have the same number of Champions, sudden death will follow. The first player to win two rounds wins the match. The map Hill and Pyle played on was Q3DM6: The Campgrounds from Quake III: Arena, which returns in an updated version in Quake Champions.

CC Combo Breaker! Not only did you get to see Duel Mode, id Software also showed you some Champions that haven’t been announced yet. The studio would show it to the public during E3. That immediately suggests that Quake Champions will not appear on the market before this year’s E3, which takes place in June. A closed beta test of the multiplayer online shooter has just begun. An open beta test will follow. It is not known when the game, which will only be available for Windows, will be released. Quake Champions will have a free-to-play variant in which players will receive one Champion. In the paid version, players have access to all Champions. It is unknown how many there are.
