QNAP Introduces Entry-level NAS with Two SATA Connections
QNAP has announced a new NAS for home users with two SATA600 ports and SSD caching. According to the company, the TS-230 is intended as an entry-level model for those who also want a media center in addition to central storage at home.
The QNAP TS-230 has two SATA connections for 2.5″ or 3.5″ SSDs. They support 6Gbit/s drives. Inside the device is a Realtek RTD1296 quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.4GHz, and 2GB DDR4 RAM. There is also a gigabit Ethernet connection on the nas, two USB 3.2 gen 1 ports and a USB 2.0 port. According to QNAP, the NAS can transfer files at 113MB/s.
QNAP says the device is also intended as a media hub for home users. The NAS has support for Plex and can decode and transcode 4k images with the h.264 video codec. Also, users can put different Docker containers on the NAS to run different applications separately.
