PUBG will get 60fps mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X, but not right away on Series S
Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, the famous battle royale fps, will have a 60fps mode on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but not the Series S. It will initially run on the same build as the Xbox One S, but the developer wants a 60fps mode to both the Series S and One S.
The Xbox Series S will initially run the game at 30fps. These framerate options are also coming to the current generation of consoles, but only the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X. To achieve this framerate, the resolution will go down to 1920×1080 pixels. The South Korean developer of the game, Bluehole, also says that the next-gen versions of PUBG will cost nothing for gamers who already have the game on one of the existing consoles.
Bluehole is also coming with cross-generation play. This is in addition to the cross-platform play the game has had since October 2019. So players of the current and upcoming generation PlayStation and Xbox will soon be in a single matchmaking pool.
The game will also be available for the new consoles soon. For the Xbox it will be from day 1, on November 10, and for the PlayStation it will be a week after its release: November 19. In-game progression such as cosmetic items are still available on the PS5 and XSX / S.
