PUBG Mobile Introduces Tesla Model Y As In-Game Vehicle
PUBG Corporation introduces the Tesla Model Y as a steerable and self-driving vehicle in PUBG Mobile. Players must activate the new Tesla Gigafactory, after which this in-game factory will produce a Model Y. The Tesla-promoted update is now available for Android and iOS.
As part of the Ignition event, developer PUBG Corporation is updating the Erangel map, among other things. The so-called Tesla Gigafactory is one of the new locations of the high-tech Erangel. Players can create Model Y cars at the factory, after which they can drive them themselves. As a nod to Tesla’s Autopilot, the Model Y may also drive itself on the map’s highways.
In addition, Tesla trucks with goods drive around on the same highways. Players can shoot at these trucks, causing boxes of weapons, ammunition and other items to fall from the trucks. Contrary to what the promotional material below suggests, the Tesla Cybertruck and Roadster are not yet in the game.
PUBG Mobile is the free-to-play variant of the paid PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Both games include Erangel as a battleroyale arena. The original PUBG, on the other hand, focuses more on realism, while the mobile variant embraces futuristic elements. Earlier this year, an all-new PUBG game for mobile platforms was also announced under the name New State. The game is set in the year 2051.
