PUBG gets changing volcano playing field and rankings solo mode
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is getting a new playing field as part of the all-new Season 9, dominated by a volcano and map changes. A ranked solo mode will also be available.
Patch 9.1 has been available on the test server since Wednesday, introducing the new Paramo playing field. This fictional map covers 3x3km, is said to be in the highlands of South America and is dominated by an active volcano. Multiple lava flows are present, which can damage players and vehicles. Another defining element of Paramo is that the playing field looks different every new round, with certain locations and parts of the terrain being moved and the weather conditions can be very different. Players do not land via a cargo plane, but via a helicopter; this helicopter also supplies the crates of loot.
Season 9 introduces not only a new battle pass and a new in-game currency called G-Coin to purchase cosmetic items, but also a ranking mode for players who like to go on a solo adventure. Introducing such a mode for self-playing players was in great demand. It was already clear that this solo mode was coming, but it was not yet clear when that would happen. As with the foursome ranking mode, these solo matches have a maximum of 64 players and rounds were only played on the Erangel, Miramar, Vikendi and Sanhok playing fields.
