PS5 game Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 sold 2.5 million copies within 24 hours

The PlayStation 5 game Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 sold more than 2.5 million copies within the first 24 hours of release. This makes it the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios title in that time frame. Previously this was God of War Ragnarök.

Sony does not report exactly how many games were sold, only that there were are more than 2.5 million. It is also unknown what the previous record was, from God of War Ragnarök. Sony did say that that God of War game sold more than 5.1 million times within seven days.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was released on October 20 and is the sequel to the 2018 and 2020 games Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. In Spider-Man 2, players will also play main characters Peter Parker and Miles Morales from those two games. In the new game, players get new powers and have to compete against Venom, Lizard and Kraven, among others.
