PS VR2 will have functionality to stream gameplay and own movements
PlayStation has provided more information on various features of the PS VR2 in an extensive blog post. The VR glasses for the PlayStation 5 will, among other things, be able to stream both gameplay and images from the wearer of the glasses.
PlayStation writes that it cannot share a release date or, for example, a suggested retail price for the PS VR2 at this time. The company does release more about the various new functions that the second VR glasses from PlayStation will receive. The company previously showed the design of the VR glasses.
PlayStation announces that it should be possible to film and stream both gameplay and your own body while using the PS VR2. To record the player’s movements, a PS5 HD camera must be paired with the console. The idea is that viewers can then see both the gameplay and the player’s movements. In the example that PlayStation shows, you can see that the player has been placed over the images of the game as a cut-out.
The cameras in the goggles themselves can be used to view the surroundings while wearing them. This can be useful, for example, to pick up the controllers. The playing field can also be marked in the room with these cameras. That way the player can indicate how much space is available to move freely. If the wearer of the VR glasses subsequently exceeds the indicated limit, he will receive a notification.
Finally, PlayStation discusses in its blog the functionality to view content that is not directly suitable for virtual reality in Cinematic Mode. This mode allows the wearers of the VR glasses to view content on a virtual cinema screen. The content can be displayed in 1080p with a refresh rate of up to 120hz. In VR Mode, the glasses show a 360-degree image in a resolution of 4000×2040 and with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
