PS VR2 gets feature to stream gameplay and own moves
PlayStation has provided more information about various functionalities of the PS VR2 in an extensive blog post. The VR glasses for the PlayStation 5 will, among other things, be able to stream both gameplay and images of the wearer of the glasses.
PlayStation writes that it cannot share a release date or, for example, suggested retail price for the PS VR2 at this time. The company does release more about the various new functions that the second VR glasses from PlayStation will receive. The company previously showed the design of the VR glasses.
PlayStation announces that it should be possible to film and stream both the gameplay and your own body, while using the PS VR2. Recording the player’s movements requires a PS5 HD camera to be paired with the console. The idea is that viewers can then see both the gameplay and the player’s movements. In the example that PlayStation shows, it can be seen that the player has been placed as a crop over the images of the game.
The cameras in the glasses themselves can be used to view the environment while wearing. This can be useful, for example, to pick up the controllers. The playing field in the room can also be marked with these cameras. In this way, the player can indicate how much space is available to move freely. If the wearer of the VR glasses subsequently exceeds the indicated limit, he will receive a notification.
Finally, PlayStation discusses in its blog the functionality to view content that is not directly suitable for virtual reality in Cinematic Mode. This mode allows the wearers of the VR glasses to view content on a virtual cinema screen. The content can be shown in 1080p with a refresh rate of up to 120hz. In VR Mode, the glasses show a 360-degree image in a resolution of 4000×2040 and with a refresh rate of up to 120hz.
