‘ProtonAOSP is the first custom rom to run stable on Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro’
Developer Danny Lin has released an update to ProtonAOSP that now fully supports the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. It is the first custom ROM for the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro that works stably, according to the developer.
Developer Danny Lin of custom rom ProtonAOSP got the rom working on the new smartphones from Google: Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. It is the first custom rom that works on the devices. On Twitter does it show a working version of the operating system on both devices. The custom ROM for the Pixel 6 specifically adds less blur, 50ms faster fingerprint unlock, and smoother brightness transitions on the 6 Pro, compared to stock Android, according to Lin. The custom ROM is currently available as early access, but Lin calls the operating system “pretty stable.”
According to 9to5Google, other Android 12 custom makers are running into limitations of the Tensor chip in the Pixel devices. Lin has been testing the custom rom on the Pixel devices since November 15 and has now had ProtonAOSP running stably for two weeks. The support for the Pixels is in version 12.1.0 of the operating system and has support for all hardware in the Pixel 6. Lin confirms that WiFi, mobile data, VoLTE, WiFi calling, GPS, NFC, all sensors, the cameras, fingerprint scanner and bluetooth to work. According to him, this also applies to all features that use artificial intelligence, such as the Google Assistant and the Neural Networks API. The rom is available for download on Lin’s Patreon.
