Proton now automatically backs up photos and videos to the Android version of its encrypted cloud storage service Proton Drive. The feature should also be available for iOS soon.

With the Photo Backup function it is possible to automatically transfer photos and videos from the gallery on the Android phone to Proton Drive, leave the company know. So it is no longer necessary to manually upload them to the app. The photos and videos are also automatically synced to the user’s Proton Drive account, so they can also be accessed via iOS and the web version.

The photos and videos can now also be viewed offline, just like other Proton Drive files. In addition, they can now be managed via the app. Via the new Photos tab it is possible to view, download and delete them. Unlike similar services such as Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, the photos and videos are encrypted end-to-end. Proton says that the feature is currently also being beta tested on iOS and will be publicly available ‘soon’.
