Probable specs AMD Threadripper PRO 5000 CPUs with Zen 3 cores appear
German tech website Igor’sLAB has published suspected specs of AMD’s upcoming Threadripper PRO 5000 CPUs. The chips are based on the Zen 3 architecture and are available with 12 to 64 cores. Presumably the CPUs will be announced during CES.
According to Igor’sLAB’s list of specifications, AMD would come with five different Threadripper PRO 5000 processors, as was already expected. The CPUs are available in variants with 12, 16, 24, 32 and 64 cores. These processors all get a TDP of 280W and support official DDR4-3200 memory.

Igor’sLAB does not write how many PCIe lanes and memory channels the CPUs have. Presumably it concerns eight DDR4 memory channels and 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes, just like the current Threadripper PRO models. Since the Zen 3 architecture is used, Threadripper PRO 5000 would not offer DDR5 or PCIe 5.0 support. AMD is adding those technologies to Zen 4. That architecture is planned for 2022 and will be used for the first time in the EPYC Genoa CPUs for servers and data centers.
The highest positioned model will be the Threadripper PRO 5995WX. That model will get 64 Zen 3 cores with 128 threads and 256MB of L4 cache. Lower positioned models get, in addition to fewer cores, also less cache. The maximum turbo frequency of all models is 4.55GHz. The base clocks do differ, with the CPUs with fewer cores being clocked higher.
AMD has not officially announced its Zen 3 based Threadripper chips yet. Presumably that will happen soon; the company will be holding a keynote with new product announcements at CES on January 4. According to previous rumors, the AMD Threadripper PRO 5000 CPUs will be released on March 8, 2022.
