Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Has Been Delayed Beyond March 2023
Ubisoft has said that the change of development studio for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake has also caused the release to be delayed. The game will not be released before March 31, 2023. Previously, a release in 2022 was planned.
The French game publisher tells IGN that as a result of handing over development responsibilities for the remake to Ubisoft Montréal, “Fiscal Year 23 is no longer the target for release.” That fiscal year ends for the company on March 31, 2023. Last month, Ubisoft announced the transfer of development duties from two Indian Ubisoft studios to the Canadian one. At the time, nothing was said about the consequences for the release date.
The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake has been delayed four times since its announcement in 2020. Once there, the corona pandemic was given as the reason, and this time it is because of the change of developer.
The Sands of Time was released in 2003. The game was very popular at the time and revived the franchise after a poor reception for Prince of Persia 3D in 1999. A new game mechanic in the title was the dagger that allows the prince to turn back time. He uses this to help with difficult platforming sections as well as in combat.
