Nexus 7 tablet details have surfaced on Gizmodo. The Google tablet would get an IPS LCD with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. The tablet would run on a quad-core processor and cost $199.

As expected, the tablet will be made by Asus, claims gadget blog Gizmodo based on ‘training material’ for sellers about the new Google tablet. Google would ask $199 for the 8GB version, while a 16GB variant would sell for $249. Both variants have a RAM of 1GB.

The Nexus 7 would receive NFC for use of Google’s NFC payment service Wallet in the United States. Not surprisingly, both of Google’s previous Nexus phones, the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus, also feature NFC. There is a 1.2MP front camera.

The tablet runs as generally assumed on Android Jelly Bean, which would receive version number 4.1. According to the slides available to Gizmodo, Google would now be responsible for updates from Jelly Bean, but what that means is unclear.

Google is expected to announce its tablet at its own developer conference Google I/O this week, though that hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. Rumors of a 7″ tablet have been circulating for months. Microsoft announced its own tablets last week, both under the name Surface.
