Portal-like puzzle game The Entropy Center will be released in 2022
Game developer Stubby Games has revealed a first-person puzzle game that is very reminiscent of the Portal games. With a special weapon, the protagonist can manipulate the world and turn back time for certain objects.
The title, called The Entropy Center, is set on a space station facing Earth. It’s up to the protagonist, with the help of an artificial intelligence in her “weapon,” to generate entropy by solving puzzles. This entropy must be used to save the world, which has become so hot that large parts of its surface are covered by lava.
The similarities with Portal are many. The game world is minimalistic, white and in disrepair. Making cubes and making big jumps play a role in the puzzles. The main character has an artificial intelligence nearby who talks to her a lot, although it seems to have bona fide intentions.
As far as we know, it is the first game from maker Stubby Games. The studio seems new; no additional information can be found about it. A page of the British Chamber of Commerce reports that the company is based in Brighton. Publisher Playstack is based in London.
The game, which was shown on Saturday during the Future Games Show from GamesRadar, is due out this year for Windows and current and previous generation Xbox and PlayStation. On the Steam page the game features a different gameplay video, albeit with similar footage.
