Porsche shows the new Macan in Shanghai
Porsche has unveiled the new Macan in Shanghai. The compact SUV has grown to a great success since its launch in 2014 and has now been further improved in terms of design, comfort, connectivity and driving dynamics. As a sporting flagship, the model remains at the top of its segment.
Due to a number of subtle changes to the exterior, the new Macan looks more sporty and modern. For example, it is now standard equipped with LED headlights and rear lights. Optional is Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus, which automatically adjusts the light distribution to the situation. Typical Porsche elements at the rear are the three-dimensional LED strip and brake lights in four-point design. New exterior colors are Mia blue, Mama green metallic, Dolomite silver metallic and Chalk.
GT sports steering wheel, ionizer and traffic jam
In the interior, the connection between the 911 and the Macan is enhanced by the optional GT sports steering wheel. The integrated Sport Response Button and the button for changing the driving mode belong to the optional Sports Chrono Package.
New comfort options come in the form of a heated windshield and an ionizer that improves the air quality in the interior. And the Macan’s range of assistance systems has been expanded with file assistance, which automatically accelerates and slows down, but can also partly drive itself in traffic jams or in slow-moving traffic.
Full connectivity
The full-HD touchscreen on the Macan center console has been increased from 7 to 11 inches. The air conditioning outlets have been redesigned and are now placed under the screen. Every Macan is equipped with the Connect Plus module for full connectivity. This adds real-time traffic information to the standard online navigation system and the possibility to control the Macan with voice commands. One of the most important elements of Connect Plus is the Here Cloud connection, which works with ‘swarm data’. This means that the Macan receives information about traffic and road conditions from cars with the same functionality.
Improved chassis, new tires and rims
The Macan is still the sports car among the compact SUVs, thanks to its improved chassis. Porsche mounts wider tires on the rear axle, allowing the Macan to make the most of its intelligent Porsche Traction Management four-wheel drive (PTM). Newly developed tires also provide more dynamics in the corners. They are about new 20 or 21 inch wheels.
