Popular Dogecoin wallet may suffer from hack and robbery
Shortly after the Dogevault website was hacked, cryptocurrency owners reported that large amounts of Dogecoins were disappearing from their virtual wallets. Dogevault’s administrators say they are investigating the matter but warn against transferring Dogecoins.
According to The Cryptocurrency Times, several Dogecoin owners are reporting that Dogecoins have disappeared from their Dogevault accounts. This website allows Dogecoin owners to store their virtual money in an account, but the service has been taken off the air. The site appears to have been hacked and the administrators say they will release a press statement shortly. Furthermore, the administrators report that they are investigating the issues and that no transactions should be made to Dogevault accounts for the time being, just to be safe.
One user has already seen 950,000 Dogecoin evaporate and other Dogevault users also report theft. In the meantime, part of the ‘disappeared’ Dogecoins would have been found in another wallet. The owner is unknown, but more than 111 million virtual coins are said to have been collected in the wallet. Based on the current price, the value is approximately 36,000 euros.
