Polyphony Digital will end online support for Gran Turismo Sport in 2024
Online components of Gran Turismo Sport for PlayStation 4 will no longer be available as of January 31, 2024. From the end of this year it will no longer be possible to unlock content with microtransactions. Gran Turismo Sport was released exclusively for the PS4 in October 2017.
Gamers who have purchased the game will continue to have access to offline modes and previously purchased content, but the Community, Open Lobby, Sport Mode and Seasonal Events functions, among others, will no longer be available from next year. The Milage Store, certain Trophies and Garage Car Liveries will also no longer be available from the end-of-life moment. reports the developer.
There is still uncertainty about the save function; For now, gamers can only save their game if there is an online connection. Polyphony Digital will probably release an update before taking the Gran Turismo Sport servers offline that will enable offline game saving, but the developer has not explicitly confirmed this so far. The blog post only states that “gameplay progression for unlocking cars and items will proceed as normal.” There has been one since last year unofficial patch available to allow users to save their game offline, but this patch only works on a jailbroken PlayStation 4.
