Polaroid camera from Impossible Project is available from May 10

The Impossible Project comes with its own camera for its instant film. The Impossible I-1 camera takes analog photos with the Polaroid-600 format. The difference with old Polaroid cameras is that the camera has bluetooth and can also be operated with an iOS application.

Just like the old-fashioned Polaroid camera, the camera has virtually no setting options, which was also the philosophy of Polaroids creator Edwin Land. According to him, everyone should be able to take a good photo in a simple way and immediately see the result.

The device has a shutter button, a button to adjust the exposure and an autofocus sensor. As a viewfinder, the camera uses a shaft viewfinder and the ring flash adapts to the lighting conditions according to the makers. To power the internal battery, the camera uses a USB connection. In addition, the Impossbile type 600 film pack also contains a battery for controlling the mechanism that works the photo out.

Via the bluetooth connection, the user can use ‘creative tools’ to adjust shutter speeds, give the flash different settings or expose a film multiple times. The app also functions directly as a remote control. The price of the camera is $300, which makes it a lot more expensive than most of the so-called refurbished cameras the company sells.

The Impossible Project started in 2008, after Polaroid closed the last factory of its instant film in Enschede. Three entrepreneurs took over the factory in the city with the conviction that there were still hundreds of millions of Polaroid cameras in the world that needed film. They started by reverse engineering the production process of Polaroid Instant Film and released Impossible instant film in 2010.
