Pokémon Go players can ‘battle’ against each other

Pokémon GO players can now battle each other. Developer Niantic turned on the functionality overnight from Wednesday to Thursday. The minimum level for those who want to compete against their friends is 10.

Niantic has made the trainer battles available in a cascade, first for players who have reached the maximum level of 40. A few hours later, however, the feature was already extended to all players of level 10 and above. The development studio says this will remain the minimum level players must be at to compete.

To compete, players must scan the Battle Code of the one they want to challenge. Remote duels can also be fought if the two players are Ultra Friends or Best Friends. Players can also engage in a ‘battle’ against the computer-controlled team leaders Spark, Candela and Blanche. Competing against human players also yields rewards, including ‘Sinnoh stones’, rare items necessary for certain evolutions.
