Pokémon Go is the fastest-earning app ever
Pokémon Go is the fastest ever app to gross $600,000,000. The game managed to earn the amount in 90 days, faster than other popular apps, such as Candy Crush Saga or Clash of Clans.
Pokémon Go players have spent almost as much time in the game as those of the next 19 most played games combined, market researcher App Annie explains in an article from Venturebeat. Android users spent 45 percent of the total time played in Pokémon Go, compared to 55 percent for the other 19 most played games. What is striking about the data is that the other games are hardly played less as a result of Pokémon Go. People seem to make time for the game and spend more time on their phones.
App Annie maintains a threshold of 600,000,000 dollars, converted to 550,000,000 euros, to measure the success of a mobile game. Pokémon Go managed to collect this amount in a record time of 90 days. The second most successful game is Candy Crush Saga. That game took more than two hundred days to reach the yardstick.
Pokémon Go was released in July for Android and iOS, and turned out to be a resounding success. Due to the immense popularity, the servers quickly became overloaded, causing worldwide availability to be postponed. Apkmirror, which offers the game as a standalone download, also took a hit. The game has already earned the title of ‘most downloaded app ever in the first week after release’.
