Niantic, maker of Pokémon Go, has reached a settlement in a lawsuit in the United States. The case involved Pokéstops and gyms located in the plaintiffs’ yard, which subsequently caused nuisance to players entering the yard.

The Hollywood Reporter reports this based on documents that have been put online by a court in the American state of California. It concerns a class action lawsuit in which the plaintiffs have reached a settlement with Niantic. The latter promises, among other things, to remove Pokéstops and gyms from the plaintiffs’ yard; these would cause Pokémon Go players to enter their yard. According to critics, Niantic would hardly respond to complaints from people, after which a lawsuit was filed.

The plaintiffs who filed the case will also receive an additional $1,000 in cash, and Niantic will pay for an independent audit to ensure compliance with the agreements. For people who subsequently joined the class action, Niantic promises to maintain a buffer of at least 100 meters between their yard and the next Pokéstop or gym.

It will also be easier to submit complaints to Niantic; Anyone who believes they are bothered by players entering the yard can request removal, as long as the affected Pokéstop or gym is within 40 yards of the yard. Finally, a warning appears on the screen for users to respect other people’s territory. It appears when ten or more players gather in a certain place.
