Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Remake Patch Blocks Trading of ‘Clone’ Pokémon

Nintendo released a patch on Monday for the Switch games Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, which blocks the use of “cloned” Pokémon. These cannot be traded or used in online battles after the patch is installed.

“Some Pokémon acquired through unintended methods can now no longer be used in Link Trades or Link Battles,” Nintendo wrote in the patch notes of version 1.2.0.

According to data miner Kaphotics, it seems that the game checks data on cloned Pokemon. So it’s about the Pokémon that you have in your party, that you have stored in a PC box, or that you have left behind in the Daycare Centre. Any Pokémon seen as a clone will be marked by the software and can no longer be traded.

The patch also adds the ability to fight in the Colosseum with custom rules. This way you can determine how many Pokémon the players can use and what level they should be. You can also choose between Single Battles, Double Battles or Multi Battles.
