Pocophone F1 gets updates to record videos at 960fps and in 4k60
The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 will receive support for recording 4k videos at 60fps via an update in February. First comes an update with support for 960fps slow motion and a fix for touchscreen issues.
The 960fps slow-motion option will be the first to appear with an update in two weeks, says the CEO from Xiaomi’s Poco division in India. This involves recording a short video of under 0.2 seconds, which lasts more than six seconds in the video. This function has been on devices from Samsung and Sony for some time, and is made possible by camera sensors with built-in DRAM. It uses the sensor as a buffer to store the frames.
The option to film in 4k at 60fps will follow in February. It is unknown whether users of the Pocophone F1 will be able to watch Netflix in HD. This is now not possible due to the lack of Widevine L1-drm in the software. It is unknown if that will also be in an update. When OnePlus wanted to add that, users had to physically send the phone in. The next update should also fix the issues that users have reported with the touchscreen controls. Xiaomi released the Pocophone F1 last summer. Pocophone is a sub-brand of Xiaomi and competes with OnePlus, among others.
