Poco shows Poco F2 Pro with Snapdragon 865 and prices from 499 euros
Xiaomi subsidiary Poco has unveiled the Poco F2 Pro, a successor to the popular Pocophone F1 from 2018. The device with pop-up camera is available immediately for 499 to 599 euros and has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 on board.
As was also mentioned in rumors, the phone is largely a rebrand of the Redmi K30 Pro, from parent company Xiaomi. The Snapdragon 865 has 6GB of ‘up to lpddr5’ ram on board in the version of 499 euros and that is 8GB in that of 599 euros. In addition, the storage memory is respectively 128GB and 256GB ‘up to ufs 3.1’. That ‘until’ suggests that the cheaper variant has lpddr4 and ufs 3.0 on board. In the presentation livestream, there was also no mention of the possibility to expand with an SD card, which was possible with predecessor Pocophone F1. The chipset also supports 5g, Wi-Fi 6, also known as 802.11ax, and ‘super bluetooth’, which is said to have a range of up to 400 meters.
The device is powered by a 4700mAh battery, 700mAh more than its predecessor. Charging is done with the supplied 30W charger, which, according to Poco, goes from zero percent to one hundred percent in 63 minutes.
The display is a 6.67″ HDR10+ AMOLED with fhd+ resolution, or 1080 by 2400 pixels. That equates to a pixel density of 394.57ppi. The refresh rate was not discussed, so it is probably 60Hz. touch polling rate 180Hz, contrast up to 5,000,000:1 and brightness up to 1200cd/m².The phone has ‘360-degree light sensors’ that should enhance the automatic brightness adjustment. The screen is uninterrupted by the front camera, because that is one of the pop-up type. The screen-to-body ratio is 92.7 percent.
Poco further states that the phone should stay cooler than competitors like the OnePlus 8 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S10 thanks to an extra large vapor chamber, which can dissipate heat from the heat sources in any direction.
The fingerprint scanner is located below the display, there is a 3.5mm jack connection, both the front and back are made of Gorilla Glass 5, the rear camera shoots up to 8k video and the front camera has a 20-megapixel sensor. This time there is an NFC chip and the phone also has an IR blaster.
This is not the only Poco news since the release of the Pocophone F1. The Poco X2 was previously announced, but that was a Redmi K30 under a different name and exclusive to India. There will also be a midrange model called the Poco M2 Pro.
The Poco F2 Pro is readily available through Gearbest and Aliexpress, according to Poco. At a later date, Poco.net, Amazon and other sales points will also offer the device. The colors are white, gray, blue and purple.
