Plex reverses decision to end HTPC support

Plex has reversed its decision to no longer support htpc after user complaints. The company says it will look into how it can best continue to support htpc users for the future.

Last week, Plex announced that it would discontinue support for htpc when announcing its new desktop application. There would be too few users of this functionality to continue development; the so-called TV mode would then be removed from the software.

Now it appears that many users have complained about this intention, after which Plex took another look at the situation. It follows that Plex has decided that it will continue to support htpc mode after all. It is not yet clear how this will be designed exactly, the company will come back to that later. Incidentally, Plex also promises to add more ‘HTPC-like’ features, such as video zoom, to its media player.
