PlayStation VR gets support for 360-degree videos from YouTube
Sony has released an update for the PlayStation VR that adds support for 360-degree videos from YouTube. This allows users of the PlayStation 4 with the virtual reality headset to watch all available 360-degree videos on YouTube.
Until now, PlayStation VR allowed users to watch streams and videos as if a large virtual screen were projected in front of them. With today’s update, Sony is offering its users the ability to watch videos from YouTube that support it in 360 degrees as well.
At the end of last year, Sony already added some support for YouTube’s 360-degree content, but this support left much to be desired. Only a limited number of users were able to take advantage of it at the time and the full HD resolution was stretched over the entire 360-degree image, giving the user the equivalent of a 354p resolution.
